Students with the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board are showing strong results on provincial assessments.
The board says students continue to perform well in reading, writing and mathematics, with many results above the provincial average.
Among primary students, 85 per cent reached Level 3 or 4 in reading, compared to 75 per cent across Ontario. In writing, 78 per cent reached Level 3 or 4, compared to 67 per cent provincially. In mathematics, 78 per cent reached Level 3 or 4, compared to 65 per cent across the province.
Junior students also performed above the provincial average in all three areas. Eighty-nine per cent reached Level 3 or 4 in reading, compared to 86 per cent across Ontario. In writing, 87 per cent reached Level 3 or 4, compared to 85 per cent provincially. In mathematics, 53 per cent reached Level 3 or 4, compared to 52 per cent across Ontario.
Grade 9 students also performed slightly above the provincial average in mathematics. Sixty-one per cent reached Level 3 or 4, compared to 59 per cent across Ontario.
The results for Grade 10 students on the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test matched the provincial average, with 86 per cent of students successfully completing the test.
