Police are investigating two separate incidents in the region involving officers being injured while carrying out their duties.
In Haldimand County, an Ontario Provincial Police officer was injured in a two-vehicle collision involving a police cruiser in Selkirk.
The collision happened Monday afternoon at the intersection of Rainham Road and Sandusk Road.
Haldimand County OPP, along with Haldimand County fire and emergency medical services, responded to the crash involving an SUV and an OPP cruiser.
One officer, along with the driver and passenger of the SUV, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
All three were later released from hospital.
The investigation into the collision remains ongoing, and police say additional details will be released as they become available.
Meanwhile, an Oxford County OPP officer suffered minor injuries after being struck by a dirt bike during an unrelated traffic stop in Norwich Township.
The incident happened Friday afternoon.
Police say an Oxford OPP officer was on general patrol when they initiated a traffic stop.
As the officer was walking back toward their cruiser, they were struck by an individual riding a dirt bike and performing a “wheelie.”
The rider fled the scene following the collision.
The suspect is described as a white male between 16 and 25 years old. At the time, police say he was wearing a white San Francisco 49ers hoodie and blue jeans.
The dirt bike is described as having a black frame, a red seat, a single-pipe exhaust, a four-stroke engine and off-road tires.
