Fall Into Wellness Day is giving local seniors a chance to connect, learn and discover resources that can support healthy aging.
The event takes place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hensall Community Centre.
Grace Bonnett, a community navigator with Grand Bend Area Community Health Centre, told myFM about the event.
The $8 admission includes educational sessions, a Drum Fit movement session and lunch from Parkside and Bayfield.
One session will focus on diabetes, with a certified diabetes educator sharing information about managing diabetes and living well with the condition. Another session will focus on brain health, including daily habits that can support healthy aging, independence and brain health.
The Caregiver Strong Institute will also be at the event to share information about an upcoming research project looking at gaps in rural health care and the issues seniors face.
Bonnett says having access to this information is very important for our local seniors.
Bonnett says the goal is to make sure seniors have the information they need to make their own choices about aging.
The event is part of ongoing wellness days in Hensall, with more sessions planned.
The $8 fee can be paid in advance through the Municipality of Bluewater website or at the door.
Registration spots are still available, and can be booked ASAP by calling the Municipality of Bluewater Recreation Coordinator at 519-280-0103, emailing reccoordinator@municipalityofbluewater.ca.
