Adam Veri will be Norfolk County’s next mayor, according to unofficial election results.
The Ward 6 councillor and deputy mayor won the seven-candidate race to succeed Amy Martin, who did not seek re-election.
Veri campaigned on affordability, economic development and a long-term plan for Norfolk’s downtowns, starting with Simcoe.
He proposed reviewing one major municipal service area each year to identify efficiencies, assess costs and seek public input on priorities.
Veri also supported attracting commercial and industrial investment and pledged not to use strong mayor powers, emphasizing collaboration and majority decisions at council.
The results remain unofficial pending confirmation by the Norfolk County Clerk.
