The 2026 Municipal Election has come to an end, and after the dust has settled, a new Mayor and councillors have emerged.
Ted Oke will serve as Mayor of South Huron for the 2026-2030 term.
He says he feels overwhelmed by the support he received from South Huron residents.
Oke received 2,033 votes, defeating Incumbent George Finch, who received 1,516 votes. Maureen Cole received 690 votes.
Joining Oke on the next term of council will be a mix of returning and new members.
In Ward 1, Marissa Vaughan was elected councillor with 866 votes, while Wendy McLeod-Haggitt received 585 votes.
In Ward 2, Aaron Curtis Neeb was elected with 1,501 votes, while Laura Susan Goulding received 1,024 votes.
In Ward 3, Paul Passmore received 363 votes.
Oke says he believes the mix of returning and new councillors will work well together.
The new council is expected to meet for its inauguration on November 16th. Oke says one of the first priorities will be to bring council together to discuss its goals and plans for the next four years.
Oke also shared a message for South Huron residents following his election.
Oke says he will do his best to meet residents’ expectations and serve the community.
