Hetty Verlinden will be Ward 3’s next representative on Norfolk County council, according to unofficial election results.
Verlinden won the three-candidate race against Chris Gill and Doug Moyaert. She will replace longtime councillor Michael Columbus, who did not seek re-election.
During the campaign, Verlinden supported commercial and industrial development, particularly food processing and light industry connected to Norfolk’s agricultural economy.
She advocated looking within existing communities first for housing and business growth, while supporting entrepreneurs through grants, flexible retail opportunities and downtown improvements.
Verlinden also emphasized the importance of rural recreation facilities as places that support community connections.
The results remain unofficial pending confirmation by the Norfolk County Clerk.
