The South Huron Hospital Foundation is asking the community to help raise $58,200 during its annual Radiothon.
Executive Director Krista McCann says the hospital is fundraising for an important care tool.
The foundation usually sets a fundraising goal of about $50,000 for Radiothon, but increased it this year.
McCann says she believes the community will help reach the goal, pointing to last year’s Radiothon, when $50,000 was raised in just six hours.
She says donations of any size make a difference, adding that one person’s generosity can encourage others to give as well.
She says community support helps ensure the hospital has the equipment it needs to provide care close to home.
The $58,200 goal is also only part of the foundation’s work. McCann says the foundation has committed about $600,000 toward hospital equipment purchases this year.
People can donate during the Radiothon by visiting Hansen’s Independent Grocer between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., donating online at www.shhf.on.ca, or calling the Radiothon hotline at 519-235-1041.
Community members can also follow the South Huron Hospital Foundation on Facebook for live updates throughout the day.
McCann thanks the community in advance for its continued support, saying local donations help ensure residents can access hospital care close to home.
