The Municipality of Lambton Shores is asking residents to help protect public spaces after a newly planted tree was pulled out of the ground and flushed down a toilet at a new washroom facility in Forest.
The municipality says the incident is an example of how vandalism at parks and public facilities can lead to extra repair costs and take staff away from other work.
Residents who witness vandalism or mischief are asked to report it to the OPP. Anyone who notices damage, garbage or cleanup needs at a municipal park or facility can also submit a report online at lambtonshores.ca/report.
The municipality is also thanking a local resident who reported the incident and replanted the tree where it belongs.
