The roads patrolled by Huron County OPP were fatality free over Canada Day weekend. In total there were 15 motor vehicle collisions reported in the region. Most involved minor property damage.
Almost 80 drivers were charged with speeding being the leading offense.
A couple of motorists lost the use of their vehicles and had their licence lifted after being ticketed for stunt driving – which is speeding in excess of 50 kilometers per hour over the posted limit.
Only three distracted driving charges were laid.
On Lake Huron, the OPP marine patrol ran constantly between Port Franks and St. Josephs. The majority of vessels and operators that were stopped, checked out.
A 13-year-old was ordered to shore for being under age and operating a Personal Watercraft without a permit.
