An opportunity to learn more about what it’s like to live with dementia and help those affected – is coming to our region.
Understanding Dementia: A Walk in Their Shoes is a simulation and learning
experience. The FREE event takes place at 2PM this TUESDAY (JULY 16th)
at the Huron Community Family Health Team in Seaforth. There’s registration information online at GATEWAY RURAL HEALTH DOT CA.
Caregivers and the general public – can learn about what a person goes through during the stages of dementia. Through skill building and discussion – it’s hoped all attendees will better understand that HOW we deal with dementia – shapes the entire community.
It’s estimated that the number of Canadians living with dementia will double over the next two decades. Presently more than half a million people in Canada have dementia. Most live at home. In nursing homes – close to 9 out of 10 residents have cognitive impairment.
