Three significant local road projects have been approved for provincial funding. The province is investing over $2.3-million in roads across Huron-Bruce. This year the provincial government is investing $30-million to support 25 Connecting Links projects. The announcement was made by local MPP Lisa Thompson last week.
The funding covers up to 90 per cent of eligible project costs with a maximum of $3-million and helps municipalities build, renew or replace roads and bridges that connect to provincial highways.
The local projects getting a share of the funding include the resurfacing Victoria Street at Highway 4 in Central Huron, resurfacing of Goderich Street Highway 8 East and West in Huron East and the extension of the Railway Street box culvert in Saugeen Shores.
Thompson says this is another example of how the government is investing in rural Ontario. She adds these significant grants will help ensure that important projects continue to go forward.
