Stratford police are warning the public after discovering over $157 thousand dollars in bath salts. Police discovered in March but had to send the drugs to the Health Canada Drug Analysis Service for analysis.
The report stated the drugs is known as Eutylone which can be fatal. Police seized the drugs in this investigation in the form of blue pills but it is commonly found as a white or brown crystal-like powder.
The drug is typically being sold as ecstasy or MDMA and is known to stimulate the body’s central nervous system.
Side effects can include: death, irregular or a very fast heartbeat, cardiac Arrest, hypothermia (over-heating of the body), excessive sweating, dehydration, kidney failure, extreme agitation leading to violent tendencies, brain damage, hallucinations, confusion, disconnect speech, a compulsive desire to take more of the drug among others.
Police want everyone to be mindful that the drug is local, and are asking anyone who encounters the drug to call police.
