There appears to be a shortage of workers in Huron County. According to a report, the unemployment rate in the Four County region (Huron, Perth, Bruce, and Grey) is at 3.4 percent.
The Provincial average is 5.6 percent. Huron County’s Economic Development Officer Chris Watson says the labour shortage is happening across the board.
Watson says he can’t explain the reason why employers are having trouble attracting workers. He did say most of the current labour force is skewing older.
Watson says they have been working with the County’s planning department on housing issues and will be reporting to Council in September.
