Police say a 33-year-old man struck out after he allegedly charged at police with a baseball bat. Huron County OPP responded to a call of fireworks going off on Carling Street on July 26th.
The investigation turned up no fireworks, and police got another call from the same caller, who started expressing concerns with unrelated issues.
Police found the mans residence and attempted to speak with the caller who refused to speak with officers, so a call was made and the caller was asked to come out.
Officers allege that the man opened his door and charged at the two responding officers, allegedly striking one with a baseball bat in the arm which caused a minor injury.
The man then returned inside and barricaded himself inside, and with the help of additional resources, police got the man to surrender an hour and a half later without incident.
Kevin Fowles from Exeter is facing charges for assault with a weapon.
