An environmental group is organizing the clean up of area beaches along the Lake Huron shoreline.
Project Snorkel is headed up by Curtis Onaczyszyn and Taylor Penzes that consists of an underwater clean up and a community shoreline clean up.
They are organizing a pair of clean-ups — one in Grand Bend this Saturday (10th), and one in Goderich on August 24th. Onazczyshin tells us what a typical clean up day involves.
Onazcyzshin says they normally find disposable items such as cigarette butts and plastic wrappers lying on the beach and in the water. He says some of the weirdest stuff they found was a salt lamp and a panini press.
The clean up in Grand Bend begins at 10 AM. Volunteers are being asked to meet at the North Beach by the Blue Flag.
