Corey Volland will spend the next eight-and-a-half years behind bars. The 30-year-old Vanastra man pled guilty to manslaughter in the death of his fiance — 28-year-old Laura Wiglesworth.
A judge in a Goderich courtroom yesterday (THU) sentenced Volland to 10 years in prison minus time already served. Volland was originally charged with second degree murder.
According to reports, Volland told the court that he choked Wiglesworth but didn’t mean to kill her. Wiglesworth was reported missing in May of 2018 and her body was found two days later on Front Road in Vanastra.
