Three people are in custody following a dangerous late night police pursuit. Perth County OPP received a call late Thursday night (5th) around 11:30 about three people being seen driving around in a stolen pick up truck in Mitchell.
They were found later that evening in Vanastra where they tried to steal a motorcycle only to be thwarted by a Huron County OPP officer. The officer tried to move in but the suspects got away in the pick up truck which resulted in a police cruiser getting struck by the vehicle.
The same suspects were later seen in Walton in a different pick up truck and an OPP officer tried to intervene only have the vehicle speed away. A chase ensued where police say objects were being thrown at the police cruiser.
A spike belt was used to stop the vehicle and eventually block it in but not before it struck two more police cruisers .
The driver — a 32-year-old man from Huron East — and two passengers — a 20 year-old from Huron East and a 17-year-old youth are facing a number of charges.
All three will have court appearances in Goderich later today (TUE).
