The United Way of Huron-Perth is sitting at about 25 percent of their campaign goal of $1.633 million. Campaign Co-Chair Martin Ritsma says the United Way is also working on tackling the unignorable issue locally. Ritsma says social isolation is a major issue.
To combat this the United Way offers rides for seniors and almost 3000 rides were accessed last year. Ritsma says that another way to keep people connected is the 2-1-1 service which helps connect people to a live person on the phone which connects people to organizations in the community to help with a sense of belonging.
