You can expect a heavy police presence on Ontario roads this Thanksgiving weekend. They are taking part in Operation Impact. It begins today (FRI) and runs until Thanksgiving Day Monday (14th).
During the campaign, OPP will be joining policing partners to help raise awareness and enforce traffic laws in an effort to save lives.
According to the OPP, there have been 216 reported motor vehicle collisions so far this year resulting in 239 deaths. Overall, there were 53,036 collisions occurred between January 1st and yesterday (THU).
Operation Impact is a national Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police-led campaign aimed at making Canada’s roads the safest in the world, in support of Canada’s Road Safety Strategy 2015.
