Students across the country held their own mock vote for the Federal Election and the results in many of the ridings do not match up with those actually elected. More than 1.1 million elementary and secondary school students from 8,000 schools across the county participated in the Student Vote Canada for 2019.
Votes were cast in all 338 ridings and in Huron-Bruce over 4000 students participated. Students voted over 40 % in favour of Conservative Ben Lobb. The rest of the results in Huron-Bruce remained the same as in the actual election.
In Lambton-Kent-Middlesex over 3800 student participated. Conservative Lianne Rood won the student vote by a slim margin only getting 26 percent, while the NDP got 22.63 and the Green’s got 22.07 percent. the Liberals, PPC and VCP rounded out the vote.
Overall students across the county elected a Liberal minority government with the NDP making up the official opposition. The Liberal party took 22.3% of the popular vote and 112 seats, re-electing Justin Trudeau for a second term as prime minister.
