The President of the Ontario Dental Association is advising parents that a bit of prevention goes a long way when it come to tooth decay. With Halloween coming up, candies will be plentiful, leaving some children with less than a desirable oral environment.
Dr. Kim Hansen says sticky candy and the chips and cheesies are the ones that tend to hang around in your mouth longer than others. He says there is one option that might surprise parents.
Dr. Hansen says flossing and brushing is always your best bet when it comes to cleaning your teeth.
If you don’t have toothpaste handy, a slice of cheese will cut the sugar in your mouth, a drink of water will rinse it out and if all else fails, chewing a piece of sugar free gum will pull some of the bits out of the teeth.
