Ontario solicitor general, Sylvia Jones says new animal welfare legislation is introducing a more robust enforcement system and the strongest penalties ever in Canada against people who abuse animals.
If it passes at Queen’s Park, he Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) Act will a new provincial enforcement model that includes oversight with a single number to report violations, updated prohibitions and obligations and strongest penalties for offenders.
PAWS was developed based on input from the public through an online survey and ongoing stakeholder consultation.
