The recent rain and high winds have forced the Town of Goderich to make a change in their plans to replace the boardwalk along the waterfront. A motion was passed at last night’s (MON) Council meeting asking to make beach stabilization a top priority.
Mayor John Grace brought forward the motion and says water is starting to encroach the beach area.
Work on stabilizing the beach area will mean that there will be a delay in the start of replacing the boardwalk on the waterfront.
But Grace says he hopes they will be able to keep their contractual obligation to have the boardwalk completed by the Fall of 2020.
He adds the cost of stabilizing the waterfront will come out of water expansion reserves.
