Police in Perth says they have responded to several reports of stolen vehicles and vehicle entries this year that could have been prevented by locking doors and taking keys out of the vehicle.
In some cases, garages have also been entered after gaining access to garage door openers. Police tips to help keep valuables safe can be found below:
If you are not at home, lock your doors.
Always roll up your vehicle’s windows, lock the doors and pocket the key.
If you have a garage, use it and lock the door as well as your vehicle.
Always park your vehicle in a well-lit area.
Never leave valuable objects or packages in full view. Put them in the trunk.
Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running.
If your vehicle is equipped with a security system, remember to activate it.
