With snow in the forecast, the OPP is asking you to prepare yourself for winter driving. They say there are no secrets to safe winter driving, but if you see snow, go slow.
Make sure you look far ahead when you drive so you can recognize hazards in advance and have plenty of time to respond.
Police also say to allow yourself extra time for travel or wait until conditions improve, and to tune to a local radio station for road closure bulletins.
They suggest keeping a winter survival kit with you in your car that consists of clothing, winter boots, blankets, snack foods, candles, and flashlights.
It’s also important you clear you car of any snow before driving, make sure your windshield is defrosted, and equip your vehicle with snow tires.
