1 in 5 Canadians experiences a mental health or addiction problem in any given year. The Lucan Peewee Rep team is helping to raise funds and awareness.
The team is making ribbons and putting them on cards and selling bracelets with proceeds going towards the Canadian Mental Health Association. So far the team has raised over $4000 dollars.
Player Lane Hardy explains why the campaign is so important.
He adds the team has been getting lots of donations from people in Lucan and other towns the team’s visits. Parent Jana Bayer Smith says this is an important cause.
The work of the team and some social media mentions has brought the initiative to the attention of TSN’s Michael Landsberg. He will be in Lucan on December 12, 2019 at the Lucan Community Centre to make a presentation.
