The Pinery Provincial Park is letting everyone know of a deer herd reduction that is taking place this week.
The reduction will be conducted by local Indigenous members and will go from a half-hour before sunrise until 30 mins after the sunset.
The Pinery says the reduction is needed due to the high deer population in the park, and the purpose is to decrease the population, and overtime maintains it at a level that protects the park’s provincially significant ecosystem.
During the reduction, the park will be closed for safety.
All members of the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation that are participating in the reduction have been made aware of mandatory safety protocols.
