Teachers and education workers represented by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation will be holding a province-wide one-day walkout on Wednesday Dec 4th.
OSSTF President Harvey Bischof explains that they’ve began job action this week designed to have no impact on students, adding that their action hasn’t had much of an impact on negotiations.
If an agreement is reached before Wednesday, the walkout will be called off.
The union apologizes for the disruption the move will cause, but points out that they’re making the decision in the best long-term interest of students.
Labour disputes between the Ford Government and the OSSTF are at an impasse with the union protesting changes made by the province, including increased class sizes, which has led to a loss of courses for students and layoffs for teachers.
