The Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program is a new publicly funded dental program to help low-income seniors. In Huron County close to 600 seniors are estimated to be eligible for the program.
Services covered will include preventative care and treatments such as fillings, check-ups, X-rays, and cleanings.
The Huron County Health Unit is offering drop-in application days for seniors this week (16-20).
Seniors in South Huron can head to the Exeter Library today (Dec 16) from 1-3:30.
To qualify people must be 65 years of age or older and have no existing dental benefits with an annual income of $19,300 or less for one person, while a couple must have a combined income of $32,000 or less.
Seniors will need a Social Insurance Number (SIN) to apply and must have filed their taxes for the previous year. If a senior does not have a SIN or has not filed their taxes in the previous year, they can apply with a guarantor using the Guarantor Form.
