The Municipality of South Huron is engaging with Lambton Shores to put forth a combined $1.5 million for a Grand Bend Trunk Sewage line.
After over two hours of discussion on the matter a recorded vote showed 6 in favour and 1 opposed to approving Phase one of the project. Councilor Marissa Vaughan was the opposer.
Mayor George Finch says it’s not a small chunk of change they’re spending so the discussion had to be thorough.
What won out is the idea for having future developments such as homes be added in the Grand Bend area and having infrastructure already built sends a message to developers and the province they’re open for business.
CAO Dan Best says the funding for the project will be through debt financing and reviewing the rate study process. There’s no determination yet on which percentage of the $1.5 million will be covered by South Huron or Lambton Shores.
