Parents and caregivers will have to find alternative arrangements for students on Wednesday unless the government and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation reach an agreement.
Roughly 1000 teachers, Educational Support Staff, Occasional Teachers, and Professional Student Services Personnel will head to the local MPP offices to picket.
President of the District 8 Secondary School Teachers Shane Restall says the OSSTF gave the Minister of Education a way out of more strikes.
He adds the local union wants to make the full withdrawal clear that it is a fight with the government.
He says the union wants students in classrooms too.
Union members have been without an agreement since August. Common issues with the negotiations include class sizes, mandatory e-learning, and the loss of thousands of teacher and education worker positions.
