The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has issued a flood warning for the municipalities of Lambton Shores and North Middlesex.
As of Sunday morning (January 12th) close to 70 millimeters has fallen over a 36 hour period. This has caused stream and river flows to rise well above bank escarpment levels. the ABCA says that low lying areas will be affected first as more rain is expected during the day.
In response to the increased rainfall, the ABCA is preparing to use the gates at the Parkill Dam operation to help mitigate the effects of the flooding.
The ABCA reminds residents to stay away from all watercourses. Fast-moving and cold water, combined with
slippery and unstable stream banks, will create hazardous conditions near all waterways.
This warning will remain in effect until 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, unless local conditions
warrant further updates.
