Upgrades are coming to the half-century old St. Mary’s Fire Hall.
Council approved the improvements on Tuesday (Feb 18) with a projected $3.1 million price tag for the project, expected to begin in April and be completed before December this year.
Mayor Al Strathdee told myFM there was a need for this.
Included in the upgrades will be enhanced storage for the gear, a boost to the ventilation system, and gender-neutral showers and washrooms.
Strathdee says in the meantime, the services will be operated out of the municipal operations centre, which he feels will not impact response times.
