Environment Canada has issued a snow squall warning for all of Huron and Perth Counties
Snow squalls are expected to weaken early this morning before reorganizing this afternoon. Strong winds combined with heavy snow squalls could produce blowing snow especially in exposed area.
Huron County has declared a significant weather event due to blowing snow, and all motorist are asked to only drive is necessary.
The Northern parts of Huron and Perth are predicted to get hit the hardest with snowfall under the most intense bands exceeding 5 centimetres per hour at times. Snowfall amounts in excess of 40 cm are possible by Saturday morning.
WEATHER CLOSURES:
All schools in the South Huron and Clinton area are closed. Buses are cancelled for all Zone 1 schools in the Lambton Kent School Board, and all buses in Lucan are cancelled.
ON THE ROADS:
Huron County has declared a significant weather event due to blowing snow, so plows have been pulled off the road.
Provincial Highways closed:
Highway 21 between Southampton and Grand Bend
Highway 8 between Seaforth and Stratford
Highway 4 Clinton to Exeter is now OPEN
Huron County Roads closed:
Orchard Line between Highway 8 to Cut Line Road Goderich
Blyth Road from Highway 21 to Perth Road. 180
