Police have charged two individuals in separate shoplifting incidents. On February 22nd the Huron County OPP attended a commercial property on Huron Road east of Goderich.
The suspect had left the business with a grocery cart full of products and failed to pay for the items.
The accused was stopped outside the store and taken into custody. A police search turned up a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
As a result 49-year-old Angela Caldwell of Ashfield Wawanosh was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of a schedule one substance. She has a court date in Goderich on March 23rd.
The following day (Feb. 23rd) police charged a man from Goderich following a shoplifting occurrence that took place on Thames Road East in Exeter.
An eye witness helped police identify and arrest the individual.Police found stolen sunglasses and suspected fentanyl on the accused.
34-year-old Bailey Merrit has been charged with possession of a schedule one substance, theft under $5,000 and failure to comply with a probation order. A court date in this matter has been set for March 16th.
