March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month.
It’s an important time to shine the light on it, says Endoscopy Lead at the South West Regional Cancer Program Dr. Michael Sey.
Sey says it’s one of the most common cancers among Canadians, but with a very high cure rate, if caught early enough.
There aren’t really any physical symptoms when one has colon cancer in the early stages, Sey explained, which is why pro-active testing is your best bet to screen for it.
You can even conduct at-home tests. Contact your doctor, nurse practitioner, or Telehelth Ontario to inquire about getting a kit.
