Kimberly Payne, Executive Director of the South Huron Hospital Foundation says they are looking to relieve some of the stress and exhaustion of the front line staff at “The Little hospital That Does”.
She explains: “The health of our frontline staff at the ‘Little Hospital that Does’ is of vital importance to us. They are working tremendous hours each day and week, and will become exhausted if we don’t look after them. And we can! Sometimes they just need a few hours away from the hospital, but don’t have the time or energy to travel home. Some are afraid of bringing the virus home to their families. We recognize that these are exceptional times, and we are calling on the most exceptional community we know to help.
In consultation with the South Huron Hospital Association we have decided that we can help by providing accommodations for staff. ALL of the frontline staff who need respite or self isolation.
To do this we need your help.
We are looking for units that can be placed at the homes of some of our staff, because we know how important it is to SEE your family, even if you have to physically distance yourself. So we are asking anyone who has an RV that we can utilize, to step forward and offer it up. Let’s come together while staying apart.
Additionally we have had cottages offered for our use during this time as well, and while not as close they will provide self isolation for those who need them, so if you have that resource as well we would welcome that into our inventory of options available to staff.
We thank you in advance for your support – ‘We are the little community that CAN’.
Cash donations are also accepted and allocated where appropriate.
Thank you on behalf of the South Huron Hospital Staff and the South Huron Hospital Foundation.”
