St. Mary’s Canada Day celebrations are both online and offline this year.
What’s already happened is the red-and-white baking contest, where residents submitted their creations online to be judged by a panel and social media, with the winner being announced on Canada Day.
Events Coordinator Andrea Macko says they wanted to offer both options to include everyone.
Still to come on both the 30th and the 1st include the colouring contest, two trivia events by the local library, and a July 1st morning virtual workout offered by the Friendship Centre.
It all caps off with a concert featuring Canadian music by the Music Director of St. Mary’s United Church, who’ll play until just before noon, when O’Canada will be performed.
Macko says all residents are invited to sing, play, or stand for the anthem outside their homes as a moment of unification.
