Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology, or SWIFT, have had an $7.2 million Request for Proposals to provide faster and more reliable high speed internet in Huron County open since late March.
SWIFT Manager of Communications Melissa O’Brien said the timing couldn’t be better.
While the funding and subsequent contract with an ISP will provide internet for a portion of county residents, O’Brien says this is just an initial step into their ultimate goal of making sure all of Huron County is accessible online.
O’Brien anticipates a decision based on the RFP when it closes December 4th will come in early 2021, noting pricing for residents is one of the factors they consider.
