Stratford police had a busy night earlier this month, responding to a number of urgent calls.
Police say early on the morning of July 4 they were called out to Avondale Cemetery where a naked man was seen walking, causing a disturbance and knocking over gravestones.
Police identified him as a 60-year-old Stratford resident with known mental health issues. He’s since been charged with Mischief Over $5000, Nudity – In a Public Place, and Obstruct Peace Officer.
Another call from earlier in the night had police responded to a man with a rope around his neck hanging from a tree.
EMS arrived shortly after police cut the man down and performed CPR. The male is now in hospital in critical condition.
Stratford Police shortly after received two 9-1-1 calls from the same number, who said they were in danger before hanging up.
Police tracked the number down and swept the area and spoke to nearby residents and found no concerns, before receiving the second call with the caller now indicating that there was going to be an explosion at an apartment building in the west end.
A search of that area was also conducted with negative results, and police are looking to identify the caller.
