The County of Huron planning department is in the midst of drafting a ‘residential intensification’ document to later present to council.
Senior planner Denise Van Amersfoort spoke to myFM about the project, and the purpose behind it.
Van Amersfoort says there’s an abundance of single-detached homes and with an aging population they understand a need for different types of housing, which includes a big requirement for most: affordability.
The department plans to have a first draft by the end of the summer, before moving onto consultations with stakeholders in the fall. The draft will be made available to the public.
