Police are warning residents to be careful about what they share over the internet following a report of a case of extortion.
Recently the OPP were contacted by a resident reporting harassing text messages from an unknown number.
The sender indicated they were in possession of photos of the victim in various states of undress and demanded $500 or they would share the pictures on social media.
Police say no money was sent but they are now warning all computer users to be cautious while engaging in on-line video chats.
Anyone one who can see the pictures or video can copy them.
They say once a picture or video is out there, you can’t get it back.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
