The Ministry of Labour is investigating an incident in Seaforth that took place last week.
On Thursday (Aug 20) first responders were called to an Egmondville property on Kippen Road and Stapleton Avenue.
Investigators say a contractor was working on a vacant lot when an excavated area collapsed around the man.
The victim was quickly freed from the deep trench, but the 64 year old was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
