The annual budget process is underway in South Huron.
The first meeting featured debate on an initial list of priorities for council along with a proposed timeline.
Council also outlined financial pressures during the first meeting including maintaining current service levels and COVID-19 related expenses.
Mayor George Finch said in a statement “Council has directed staff to come back with a budget based on a zero percent tax rate increase to see what that would look like.”
Budget discussions will continue in the next few months with the next meeting scheduled for November 9th, with the goal of adopting the final budget being December.
