The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change recently announced plans to achieve national zero plastic waste by 2030.
The County of Huron is doing its part to help out by launching a corporate-wide Single Use Item Reduction Strategy.
The strategy will be used as a guideline to help reduce the purchase and disposal of single use items, such as plastic straws and cutlery, single use cups and plastic shopping bags or take out containers.
The County of Huron hopes that by reducing single use items, employees across all departments will help minimize the environmental impact and improve the sustainability of the corporation.
