Coming up on Wednesday (Nov 4) the United Way of Perth Huron is doing a basic income forum.
COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on our communities and exposed the reality that the Canadian social safety net is no longer working.
The free Youtube event is only 45 minutes long and will discuss what a Basic Income would look like.
Moderated by critically-acclaimed actor, writer, and voice-over artist Maev Beaty.
Panelists are:
Senator Kim Pate, a nationally renowned advocate and former Executive Director of the Canadian Association of the Elizabeth Fry Society supporting some of the most marginalized, victimized, criminalized, and institutionalized citizens of Canada
Ron Hikel, world-renowned expert and Executive Director of Minicome (the Manitoba Basic Annual Income Experiment) in Dauphin, Manitoba in the 1970’s
Dr. Tracy Smith-Carrier, associate professor and the graduate program coordinator in the School of Social Work at King’s University College at Western University and chair of Basic Income London, Ontario
Floyd Marinescu, CEO and co-founder of C4Media and a universal Basic Income activist
