The Middlesex-London Health unit coverage area has moved to the COVID-19 Orange-Restrict tier.
The announcement was made on Friday in consultation with the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, local medical officers of health and other health experts. It was triggered by an increase in cases, more evidence of community transmission, more tests coming back as positive, and an increase in outbreaks.
Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health advised, “by taking proactive action and moving these regions to a higher level in the framework, we are helping them to reduce transmission in the community and avoid broader closures.”
The area is expected to remain under these restrictions for a minimum of 28 days unless there is a need for tighter restrictions.
