The provincial government is supporting horse racing by extending funding to racetracks by $3 million per year until 2026.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says the money is great news for the local track in Clinton, where she said the announcement includes the development of a new three year strategic business plan that will support a 15 track model.
The announcement follows the 2019 Long Term Funding Agreement with Ontario Racing that provides financial support for racetracks, horse people and breeders over a 19 year period.
Like many industries in Ontario, horse racing has been impacted by the pandemic, Thompson says thousands are employed by the race tracks and supporting the industry is crucial to ensuring it’s there for generations to come.
