The future of the Stephen Arena was made a little bit clear during Tuesday nights South Huron council meeting.
After a vote to close the arena failed to even get seconded, Councilor Aaron Neeb made a motion of his own.
Neeb’s motion read the Stephen Arena remains open and continues to operate as an arena.
The motion continued to say and that a full engineering report including building condition assessment beyond lifecycle costing and the provision of a capital investment program for the next 10 years be incorporated as part of the 2022 budget;
The last part read that the information from this report can be taken into account by the 2022-2026 Council.”
Councilor Neeb’s motion was seconded by Councillor Diane Faubert and passed with a vote of 7-0.
Up next for council is a February 22nd Committee of the Whole, where what to do with the South Huron Recreation Centre will be discussed.
