Adult Canadians score surprisingly low in literacy and numeracy skills.
That’s according to executive director at ABC Life Literacy, Mack Rogers who says low skill levels are correlated with financial insecurity and lower civic engagement.
These days, Rogers says literacy and digital skills are even more essential in the skilled workforce than numeracy skills.
Rogers says 48 per cent of adult Canadians fall below the high school level in literacy and almost 55 per cent score in the two lowest skill levels in numeracy.
